Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about planning a celebration with us on Morris Cove.

I.

Planning & Booking

Dates, tours and getting started.

How do we check availability?

Send your preferred date, estimated guest count and type of event through our inquiry form. Our events team will follow up with availability, next steps and a time to tour.

How far in advance should we reserve?

Availability varies by date, season, event size and space. If you have a specific date in mind, or a short list of options, reach out as early as possible. Popular dates fill quickly.

Can we tour the venue before booking?

Yes, and we recommend it. A private tour is the best way to see the waterfront, walk through both event spaces and meet the team who will help plan your event.

How much does an event cost?

Pricing depends on your date, guest count, event space and menu selections. Share a few details with our events team and we will walk you through current options and pricing. A service charge and Connecticut sales tax apply.

Will our event be private?

Yes. Each of our event spaces is reserved for your party alone and is never shared with another event.

Do you host daytime and evening events?

Yes. Available times depend on the date, space and type of celebration. Our events team can discuss current daytime and evening availability with you.

II.

Spaces & Guests

Choosing the right room for your group.

Which event space is right for our group?

The Grand Ballroom welcomes about 125 to 280 guests, with panoramic waterfront views and room for dining and dancing. The Inn welcomes 50 to 150 guests in a warmer, more intimate setting just steps from the water. Our team will recommend a space based on your guest count and plans.

Can the room be arranged for our event?

Yes. Layouts are built around your guest count, dining style, entertainment and program. Options include banquet, cocktail-style, theater, classroom, conference and U-shaped setups.

Is parking available?

Yes. Complimentary on-site parking is available next to The Inn and beside the Grand Ballroom. On busy evenings, additional parking may be directed along the lawn.

Do you have audiovisual equipment?

Please share your audiovisual needs with your inquiry. Our team will confirm what is available and discuss any outside rentals or professionals you may need.

III.

Food & Bar

Menus, dietary needs and dessert.

Do you offer menus and packages?

Yes. We offer chef-prepared menus and packages for weddings, private celebrations and business events, from brunch and luncheons to cocktail receptions and plated dinners. Our team will help you choose based on your event time, guest count and style of service.

Is the food prepared on site?

Yes. Every menu is prepared by our chefs in our own kitchen.

Is a full bar available?

Yes. Full-service bar and beverage options are available, and our team will help you choose selections that suit the size and style of your event.

Can you accommodate allergies and dietary needs?

Please share any allergies and dietary needs while planning, so our culinary team can walk you through the accommodations available.

Can we bring a cake from an outside bakery?

Please speak with our events team about current dessert and outside-cake policies before making arrangements with a bakery. We also offer dessert experiences, from dessert tables to gelato and espresso.

IV.

Weddings & Ceremonies

Vows, weather and the details.

Can we hold our ceremony and reception at Amarante’s?

Yes. Your ceremony, cocktail hour and reception can all take place here, so guests never travel between locations. Our team will walk you through the options for your date and guest count.

What happens if it rains?

We review the ceremony arrangements with you ahead of time. If the forecast becomes a concern, our team will go over the options for keeping your guests comfortable and your ceremony beautiful.

Can we personalize the ceremony space?

Yes. Florals, aisle décor, music, readings and traditions are all welcome. Please review any setup plans with our team in advance.

Do we have to use your preferred vendors?

No. Our preferred vendor list is a helpful starting point, but using a vendor from it is not required to book at Amarante’s Sea Cliff.

Are there hotels nearby for our guests?

Yes. Several hotels in New Haven and East Haven are listed on our Preferred Vendors page, along with their contact details.

V.

Décor & Entertainment

Making the space your own.

Can we decorate the event space?

Personal decorations are welcome with prior approval. Please review centerpieces, signage, candles, backdrops, hanging items and installation with our team before your event.

Can we bring a DJ or entertainment?

Yes. Entertainment can be coordinated with the venue in advance. Please share your DJ, music, performance and equipment plans with our events team.

Can we bring outside vendors?

Please talk with our team about your entertainment, audiovisual professionals, decorators, photographers and other vendors. Setup, access and venue requirements should be confirmed in advance.

VI.

The Deck

Our seasonal waterfront restaurant.

Is The Deck a restaurant?

Yes. The Deck is our seasonal waterfront restaurant, serving food and drinks in a relaxed outdoor setting overlooking Morris Cove. Days and hours may change during the season, so please check current hours before visiting.

Do I need a reservation?

Reservations are encouraged, especially at popular times. Walk-in seating depends on the weather, table availability and the size of your party.

Can we reserve The Deck for a private event?

Private use depends on the date, season, guest count and event schedule. Contact our events team to discuss availability. Private events on The Deck follow The Inn’s pricing and event policies.

Is The Deck accessible, and are children welcome?

The Deck is wheelchair accessible by ramp, and children are always welcome, with highchairs and kid-friendly options available. Pets are not allowed, though trained service animals are permitted.
